Deepavali festival is all set to be celebrated on 27th October.
On this occasion, the Tamil Nadu State Government Department of Fire-fighting has planned to attend to the fire accidents promptly.
The fire-fighting department has already taken several precautionary initiatives to reduce the extent of damage in fire accidents. Especially, the department has planned that as soon as the news of fire accident is received, to reach the accident spot within 6 minutes in the urban localities and in 10 minutes in rural localities.
Exclusively for this purpose, 34 additional fire-fighting stations are being set up in exterior localities in Chennai apart from the existing 39 fire-fighting centres in the Chennai Metro City.
The exterior fire-fighting centres will be located in the areas where more fire-accidents had happened in the past few years and areas of dense population where there are more likely chances of fire accidents to happen.
In these exterior fire-fighting centres, 15 fire-fighting staff will be available 24 hours with a fire-fighting vehicle. These fire-fighting centres will commence functioning 2 days before Deepavali festival and will function for 4 days.
Apart from this, to quench the small fire and also to able to reach places where larger fire-fighting vehicles cannot enter, 4 fire-fighting vehicles in ‘jeep’ form and 8 motorcycles with fire-fighting equipment.
In order to reduce the possible time delay while communicating the news of fire-accidents, the fire-fighting department, police department, and the health department are jointly functioning.
As the extent of damage due to the fire-accidents will be minimal when the fire-fighting squad reaches there at the earliest, the fire-fighting department had planned the above arrangements!
