The Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Government Transport Corporation Mr. R. Ponmudi informed that special buses would be operated on the occasion of the Deepavali festival to facilitate the passengers to travel without any difficulties.
He further observed:
‘On the special occasion of Deepavali which falls on 27th October, special buses will be operated from Chennai to Kumbakonam, Tanjavur, Pattukkottai, Peravurani, Mannarkudi, Nannilam, Nagappattinam, Karaikkal, Velankanni, Mayiladuthurai, Thiruvarur, Thiruththuraippoondi, Vedaranyam, Trichy, Ariyalur, Jayankondam, Karur, Pudhukkottai, Karaikkudi, Ramanathapuram, and Madurai on 24th, 25th, and 26th October.
Further, special buses would be operated from Trichy to Thanjavur, Kumbakonam, Thiruvarur, Nagappattinam. Pudhukkottai, and Madurai. Also, special buses will be operated from Madurai, Coimbatore, and Tirupur to Trichy, Thanjavur, and Pudhukkottai and also special buses would be operated to all cities under the jurisdiction of the Kumbakonam Transport Corporation on 24th, 25th, and 26th of October.
Temporary bus terminus stations in Chennai!
The buses to Kumbakonam, Thanjavur, Pattukkottai, Peravurani, Mannarkudi, Nannilam, and Thiruvaiyaru would be from the Tambaram Sanitorium Arignar Anna Bus Terminus.
Special buses to Trichy, Ariyalur, Senthurai, Jayamkondam, Pudhukkottai, Aranthangi, Ramanathapuram, Rameswaram, Paramakudi, Madurai, Kamudhi, Mudhukulathur, Nagappattinam, Velankanni, Mayiladuthurai, Seerkazhi, Thiruvarur, Thiruthuraippoondi, and Vedaranyam will commence from the Koyambedy bus terminus.
Further, to facilitate the passengers returning after celebrating Deepavali in their native places, special buses will be operated on the 27th, 28th, and 29th of October.
