Whether we are in the `40s or in the `60s, it is important to have strong bones. It is said that the mineral calcium plays an important role in providing strength to our bones.

The important point is if enough calcium is not consumed by us then our body tends to suck calcium out of our bones and teeth to function well. Hence the intake of foods rich in calcium is important for us.

These are the foods that we must consume for our bones to be stronger and to be free from fractures.

Intake of cheese:

Calcium is present in high amounts in parmesan and cheddar cheese. The important piece of information is 1.5 oz cheddar cheese has 30 % of recommended calcium. To provide our body with calcium, it is necessary that we must consume cheese regularly. Intake of cheese in moderate quantities is important.

Intake of grapefruit:

It must be taken into account that vitamin C is essential for bone health. By consuming at least one grapefruit in a day it is possible to get vitamin C.

Intake of egg yolks:

Vitamin D is important for the strength of our bones and egg yolks are rich in this vitamin. It is said that instead of consuming egg white omelet we could eat whole eggs to get this vitamin for the bones to be strong.

Intake of broccoli:

It is worthy to note that broccoli is rich inin calcium and is associated with fewer bone fractures in post-menopausal women. Broccoli could be consumed either with lemon and pepper or with salt and garlic.
