The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects for mild to medium rain in the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu.
The northeast monsoon rainy season commenced in the state of Tamil Nadu on 17th October.
With the onset of the northeast monsoon rainy season, there were heavy rains in all the districts in Tamil Nadu. Subsequently, all the dams and other water-bodies were filled to capacity.
In this situation, the Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects for mild rain in a few parts of Tamil Nadu due to convective rain phenomenon, Further, it may rain with thunder in many places.
There are prospects of rain with thunder in 15 districts including Chennai, Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur, Cuddalore, Kanyakumari, Vizhuppuram, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagappattinam, Pudhukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Tirunelveli, Thoothukkudi, and Puducherry, Karaikkal.
In the last 24 hours, maximum rainfall of 2cm has been recorded in Mayiladuthurai. Rainfall in other places: Cuddalore, Pamban, Puducherry, and Papanasam - 1 cm. There is no news about rain on 16th, 17th, and 18th November as per IMD (Indian Meteorological Department).
