SC/ST Std. 12 cut off is 40%

The first bench of the Madras High Court comprising of Chief Justice R.K. Agrawal and Justice N. paul Vasantakumar have confirmed a single judge order upholding the AICTE’s notification that the cut off percentage in Class 12 for SC / ST students is 40%.
Before, the state government had said that 35% was enough for students from the community but a notification from the AICTE dated July 4th, 2011 stated that 40% was the cut off mark. Following this, the State Government and the SC / ST Employees’ Welfare Association of the Department of Technical Education had filed a writ appeal and writ petition respectively. Both were dismissed by the first bench.
