The 35th district of the state of Tamil Nadu, Thirupathur, is born.
The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, E. Palaniswamy, inaugurated the formation of the new district at a function conducted in the Thirupathur private school.
The new district of Thirupathur has been formed by separating from the erstwhile Vellore district commences the administration activities today (Thursday, 28th November).
During the 19th Century, Thirupathus had been the capital/headquarters of the district comprising of Vellore, Salem, and other localities. The administration office at Thirupathur under the British rule. During the year 1998, Thiruvannamalai district was split to form Sambuvarayar district and North Arcot Ambedkar district.
This North Arcot Ambedkar is the Vellore district. Presently, integrating the circles of Thrupathur, Vaniyambadi, Ambur, and Naatrampalli, Thirupathur the district is formed.
The locality residents hugely welcome the decision to the birth of the new district as it used to take at least a day to visit Vellore (at a distance of 85 km) and back.
The legislative assembly constituencies of the state government minister for Commercial Tax Veeramani and the minister for Labour Welfare, Nilosafar Kabil Jolarpettai and Vaniyambadi (respectively) come under this new district Thirupathur.
Agriculture is the main profession in Thirupathur district. The tanned leather and its products in the plants at Vaniyambadi and Ambur is well-known for its global quality!
The state Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister has thus inaugurated today the new Thirupathur district, well-known for its prominent place in both history and Geography!
The Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, other ministers and higher officials participated in this inaugural event.
On the function platform dais, the chief minister and the deputy chief ministers offer flower petals on the portraits of MGR and Jayalalithaa and then commenced the function.
There are 2 Taluks, Thirupathur and Naareampalli. A new revenue zone is formed at Vaniyambadi. The Taluks of Vaniyambadi and Ambur come under it.
As a similar development, the new 36th district of the state of Tamil Nadu, Ranippettai is also born today!
This new district consists of 2 zones – Ranippettai and Arkonam and circles including Arcot, Wallaja, and Nemili. The inaugural function is slated to start at 12.30 PM.
