Southern Railways: Passengers in Nellai Podhigai express to pay more and travel up to Egmore!

The Southern Railway has announced that passengers travelling in Podhigai Express can opt to travel up to Egmore and pay the excess fare to the TTE (Travelling Ticket Examiner) in the train and reach Egmore.

A notification released by the Southern Railway in this regard mentions:
Southern Railway had earlier announced that the following trains would resume operations as usual from Egmore from 4th December:

  • Nellai Express (Chennai Egmore-Tirunelveli) 12661
  • Podhigai Express (Chennai Egmore-Sengootai)
  • Nellai Express (Tirunelveli-Chennai Egmore) 12632
  • Podhigai Express (Sengottai-Chennai Egmore) 12662

Due to this resumption of operation of the above trains from Chennai Egmore, the passengers who had already booked as per the condition before 4th December to travel up to Tambaram, if they prefer to travel up to Egmore, can pay the excess fare to the TTE and travel up to Egmore Railway Station. Please note that this option would be valid only for the tickets which were reserved from Tambaram up to 7th July.
