Tamil Nadu Minister for Industries P. Thangamani has announced that the Tamil Nadu News Print and Papers (TNPL) will plant pulp wood trees over 2400 acres.
Speaking in the Assembly, Mr. Thangamani said, ‘To increase the production of pulp, the company (TNPL) will purchase twin roll press machine at the cost of Rs 7 crore. There is also plan for a recycle machine to convert the waste pulp to cardboard at the cost of Rs 6 crore. Steps were taken to revamp of the steam and power generation system by installing three old boilers and installing a new 41 MW capacity turbo generator by replacing the existing ones at a cost of Rs 145 crore. This project will be completed by May 2013.’
