Prospects for heavy rains in 6 districts!

The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects for mild rains in next 24 hours in a few places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry due to the cyclonic format prevailing in the upper layers of the atmosphere over the southeast Bay of Bengal.

Further, the centre has informed that there are prospects of heavy rains in a few places in 6 Tamil Nadu districts of Thotthukkudi, Ramanathapuram, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, and Nagappattinam.

The Chennai Metro City will remain cloudy. There are prospects for rain during the night session.

There have been a 6% excess rains as compared to the average so far in Tamil Nadu from the month of October until date due to the northeast monsoon rainy season.

Rainfall records:

In the last 24 hours, a maximum rainfall of 2 cm has been recorded in Papansam, Tirunelveli district, A rainfall of 1 cm has been recorded at Karaikkal.

From October till date, rainfall of 585.1 mm rainfall has been recorded in Chennai and 431 mm in Coimbatore.

In the next 24 hours,  the maximum temperature would be 31 Degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be 25 Degrees Celsius.
