State highways department involved in encroachment removal work in Chennai

There are many encroachments in the city of Chennai and these encroachments create issues for many.

It is now revealed that the state highways department was involved in the encroachment removal operation on the important Velachery Bypass Road. This route has been used by many motorists is well known. Many complaints regarding encroachments (shops on the footpaths) were received.

It must be taken into account that the shops have been fixing name boards and even putting up temporary sheds. This has led to the blocking of the pathway here.

The information is officials of the state highways department have associated with the Chennai city police personnel and have demolished many concrete structures present on the footpaths. The name boards and hawker vehicles that were present on the paths were removed by these officials.

It was later mentioned by an official belonging to the state highways department that this encroachment removal drive is being done for the last few days. The main objective was to reclaim the footpaths from the encroachers. It is known that Velachery has got geographical advantage with regards to its connectivity to other parts of Chennai. This has made Velachery as an important commercial as well as a residential hub.
