The draft final voters list is being released today (Monday, 23rd December) in Tamil Nadu. In Chennai, Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner releases the draft final voters’ list today.
Indian Election Commission sent the final voters list with the supplementary list of voters qualified to vote in the local elections to the State Election Commissioner and the respective district collectors last week.
According to this list, there are 6,00,01,329 voters in Tamil Nadu. Out of this, 2,96,46,287 are men. 3,03,49,118 are women, 5,924 voters belong to the third gender.
Last time the voters` list was released for the parliamentary elections held on 26th March. At that time, there were 59869758 voters. Now, it has crossed 6 Crores!
In this scenario, the draft final voters’ list is scheduled to be released today (Monday, 23rd December).
This will be released by the Greater Chennai Corporation commissioner in the Chennai Metro City and the respective district collectors in the districts.
Those who names are included in this list can vote in the local elections. In this situation, the activity of correcting the voters` list is scheduled to commence today, 23rd December, and will conclude on 22nd January 2020.
The voters can carry out corrections of personal details either online or the App, ‘voter helpline’. Further, corrections may be done through an application with details submitted to the officer for voter registration. Apart from this, special voters camps are scheduled to be conducted on 4th, 5th, 11th, and 12th January 2020. The applications received in these special camps will be scrutinized and then it is expected that the final voters’ list will be released.
