Revisions to be made on the regulations for registration of technical experts!

Revisions are planned to be incorporated in several sections of the current registration procedure/rules and regulations under the general construction laws including the registration of technical experts.

The general construction rules and regulations were implemented in Tamil Nadu on 4th February. The procedure of granting approval of new constructions is bid on these rules and regulations.

The revised rules and regulations have the facilities for thorough monitoring/checking of the quality of constructions at various stages of construction in all aspects. 12 categories of experts in the construction field including the construction engineer, constriction design engineer, and architectural engineer.

The approval for the construction can be obtained only with the signatures of the above-mentioned experts. The activities related to establishing this registration procedure are in progress.

Candidates who are degree holders in Civil Engineering only can register as technical experts. In this regard, demand has been made to include the ITI (Industrial Training Institute 2-year trade-certificate course in civil engineering) as well as diploma holders in Civil engineering in the approved list for technical experts.

Similar demands have been raised to include the above categories for the construction engineer, construction design engineer, and the architectural engineer.

The executive officers of the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Construction Engineers’ Federation submitted a petition in this regard day-before-yesterday (Tuesday, 24th December) to the secretary of the State government  Department of Housing Development, Rajesh Lakhani.

It is gathered that the proposed changes in the rules and regulations will be based on the decision to be taken on the above demands.

The officials of the state department of housing and urban development shared in this regard:

‘Certain revisions are to be carried out in the general construction rules and regulations as per the required usage. A special high-level committee meeting has been conducted for this purpose. Some revisions will be carried out regarding the academic qualifications, and responsibilities of the registration of technical experts.

Further, the revisions will be made such that the present procedure will be more streamlined and also to ensure no sham/fake engineers enter into this construction business field. The official order regarding this will be released shortly.’
