The corridors of the Sabaraimalai Lord Sri Ayyappa Temple are being opened today for the occasion of the Makara Vilakku Poojas. The Makara Jothi Darshan is scheduled on 15th January.
The temple corridors were closed after the event of Mandala Pooja at the Sabarimalai Lord Sri Ayyappa Temple. The temple corridors are now scheduled opened today (Monday, 30th December) at 5.00 PM.
MelSanthi Sudhr Nambhoodri will lit the ‘Deepam’ (lamp) after the corridors are opened and then will go down via the 18th Step and grow fire in the 9Aazhi Gundam’. After this event, the devotees will be allowed to have Darshan to go via the 18-steps.
The temple corridors will be closed at 11.30 PM. They will open in the early morning at 3.00 AM tomorrow (Tuesday, 31st December) and then Tanthri Kandararu Mahesh Mohanaru will start the ‘Ghee Abhishekham’. This ‘Ghee Abhishekham’ will be performed between 3.15 AM to 11.30 AM on all days until 19th January.
On these above days, Usha Pooja will be performed at 7.30 AM, Kalababhishekham and ‘Ucha Pooja’ in the afternoon, Pushpabhishekham at 7.00 PM and ‘Athazha Pooja’ at 10,00 PM.
Makara Jothi Darshan will be performed on 15th January. After the Deeparadhanai is performed at 6.30 PM, the Jothi would be visible atop the ‘Ponnambala medu’. The temple corridors will be opened at the very early morning at 2.30 AM and ‘Makara Chakram Pooja’ will be performed.
The devotees can have Darshan of the Lord until 10.00 PM on 20th January.
The temple corridors will be closed at 7.00 AM on 21st January.
The special arrangements to be done for the occasion of Makara Vilakku pooja are presently in earnest progress at Pamba and Sabarimalai.
