The list of holidays for the year 2020 has been released by the State government of Tamil Nadu.
There are 23 public holidays. There are 5 holidays each in January and August. There are 4 in October. There are 3 in April.
Apart from this, occasions like Republic Day, Mohurram, etc., fall on Sundays.
As the Deepavali festival falls on 14th November, which is also observed and celebrated Children’s Day, a single combined holiday is declared.
It may be noted there is not even a single holiday in the month of February!

15th August - Independence Day

2nd October - Gandhi Jayanthi
25th October - Ayudha Poojai
26th October - Vijaya Dasamai
30th October - Miladi Nabi
14th November - Deepavali
25th December - Christmas
Total Holidays: 23
All the organisations/institutions/concerns functioning under the State government of Tamil Nadu must remain closed on the above holidays. This is applicable to the state government public sector undertaking Corporations and Departments.
