As the subsidy presently being given by Tirupathi Thirumalai Devasthanam (TTD) for the devotees visiting Tirupathi for the Darshan of Lord Sri Venkateswara for buying the temple ‘Prasadams’ of Laddus is being cancelled from the ensuing ‘Vaikunta Ekadasi’ day, information is gathered that the price of the Laddu Prasadam is all set to go up.
Just as the Lord Venkateswara and His Tirupathi temple are hugely globally popular, the prasadam (offered to the deity during the special poojas and prayers) of Laddu is also extremely popular all over the world.
However, large expenses are being incurred by TTD for the production of the Laddus. It is gathered that the production cost incurred by TTD per Laddu is Rs. 38!
Presently, the devotees who visit Tirupathi coming by foot are offered 1 free laddu. Apart from this, the devotees coming for free Darshan and those who visit by climbing the hill are offered 4 Laddus at Rs. 70.
As Laddus are offered on subsidy, TTD is said to incur annual losses of Rs. 250 Crores.
In order to counter this loss, TTD has decided to cancel the practice of selling Laddus at subsidised prices and instead, offer 1 free Laddu for all devotees of all kinds of Darshans and in case the devotees want, offer them Laddus at Rs. 50 per piece.
The above decision is set to be implemented from Vaikunta Ekadasi.
