Fast-moving traffic has been creating issues for those who walk or jog along the Marina beach Loop Road and these people have fear of running into this fast-moving traffic here.

The Chennai city corporation has planned to lay 2.5 km footpath along the seaward side of the Loop Road that stretches from Light House to Foreshore Estate for the people to walk or jog. It must be noted that additional advocate general, Mr S.R. Rajagopalan, submitted map before a division bench consisting of Justice Mr Vineet Kothari and Justice R. Suresh Kumar.

The advocate general revealed that Greater Chennai Corporation or GCC commissioner had made representation to the TN Coastal Regulation Zone Management Authority in this aspect and project would start once clearance is got. Space to access the sea would be provided to the fishermen and this would be in addition to the footpaths.

A market has been planned on 2-acre land at Nochi Kuppam and the fish vendors presently occupying the seaward side of the road would be relocated to the market.  For doing the construction work in a speedy manner, the bench directed the corporation to get necessary approvals and plan permission from the concerned authorities as expeditiously as possible.
