From GST Road itself, access to ORR possible by the motorists

Many motorists travel towards Red Hills from Vandalur is known. These motorists would be able to gain access to outer ring road or ORR from GST Road itself.
It is worth mentioning that 2 arms (one to get on to the road and others to get off) are nearing completion and finishing touches like paintings are being given now.
In the past, the non-availability of land had made access to 62 km long road from Vandalur to Minjur via Old Perungalathur and Vandalur villages are known. In the space between the arms, bus terminus, as well as public conveniences, is likely to come up. This was brought out by TNRDC or Tamil Nadu Road Development Company sources.
There is a need to have a bus terminus and a bus bay as many visitors coming to the famous Vandalur zoo alight at that point. In the available space, the facilities are being created. This was as per an official. The non-availability of land on a 200 m stretch has resulted in the non-completion of work on phase-2 on Chennai ORR and this in spite of the fact that phase-1 was thrown open for the public before 5 years itself.
It was explained by another official that the above issue is being sorted out and amicable settlement is expected shortly. After getting the land, just 3 months of time would be required for the completion of the work. The motorists could get off the road, take a detour and could get back on CORR.
The traffic has increased ever since phase-1 of Chennai Outer Ring Road or CORR was thrown open for public in the five years. Every day, as many as 27000 vehicles (2055 buses, 5260 multi-axle vehicles, 2330 LCVs and 17400 cars and jeeps) use this road despite the non-completion of second phase.
