Traffic diversion in several locations on the scheduled Republic Day rehearsal

As Republic Day will be celebrated on the 26th of January, the Governor of the State of Tamil Nadu will hoist the national flag at the Chief Secretariat at St. George Fort. The rehearsal for this event is being scheduled for 3 days.

Accordingly, traffic has been banned in the Kamarajar Salai. There are further traffic diversions as well.

S, the Chennai Metro City Traffic Department has announced that there are traffic diversions for 4 days. A notification in this regard mentions:

‘From today (Monday, 20th January) to 23rd January, and on the Republic Day (26th January), vehicles will not be allowed in the section between Santhome and War Memorial from 6.00 AM till 10.00 AM.

The goods and commercial vehicles proceeding from Adyar to Broadway via Kamarajar Saalai will have to take the Greenways Road junction and then R K Mutt Road to reach Anna Salai and proceed from there.

The Chennai Metro City buses proceeding from the Adyar area  to Broadway via Kamarajar Saalai will be diverted via Kutchery Road.

The vehicles plying on Dr Radhakrishnan Road towards Gandhi Statue will be diverted to Royappettah High Road.

The buses proceeding from Mylaporevia Sivasamy Road would proceed via Anna Saalai towards Broadway.’
