Class 10 board examinations in TN would not have any fixed format questions

The Directorate of Government Examination or DGE has informed the schools in Tamil Nadu that the questions in the class 10 board examinations would not be of any fixed format.
Last year also, similar changes were effected for class 11 and 12 board examinations and this was as per the recent communication from the directorate.
It is known that the syllabus for class 10 was changed this year and the board examination would be held under the new syllabus for the first time. Model question papers were released recently and the truth is these question papers were just to inform students and teachers about the sections plus marks distributions.
The note also brought to light that there was no necessity to ask the same type of questions from the model paper for match the following/ fill up etc. It is known that the students would usually skip those chapters that have lower weightage and the blueprint would have information about weightage of marks.
It was later mentioned by the headmaster of MCC Higher Secondary School, Chetpet that the department had announced about the non-availability of the blueprint. He added that students were given tests based on full books to prepare them for the board examinations. He concluded that it would take 2 or 3 years to adapt to the new system.
The teachers were of the view that the new syllabus would overburden the students and increase their fear. The number of high scorers would be less and the slow learners would have to strive hard to pass the examinations.
Chennai based government school teacher explained how the move was aimed at preparing the students for the competitive exams and for other entrance exams.
