Students from backward communities may apply for educational financial assistance

Chennai District Collector has released a press a notification announcing the students from the backward communities can apply for a scholarship (educational financial assistance) at the district collector office. The notification mentions:

‘The State Government of Tamil Nadu has ordered that educational scholarship assistance of up to Rs. 2 lakhs per student in case they fulfil the following conditions:

The students must belong to the backward community, most backward community, and scheduled class/tribe.

The annual family income of the students must not exceed Rs. 2 Lakhs per annum.

The students may be studying in the central government approved educational institutions such as IIT, IIM, IIIT, NIT, and studying graduate courses in central universities.

Students interested in the above are asked to approach the District Backward community and Minority Community Welfare Officer, located in the Chennai District Collector’s Office.
