A new attractive scheme, known as ‘GST Lottery Scheme’, is to be introduced shortly in order to encourage the habit of obtaining the bills for the items bought in shops!

A member of the Department of Central Indirect Taxes and Customs Department, John Joseph, shared in this regard:

‘All citizens must adopt the habit of obtaining proper bills whenever buying items from shops. A new ‘GST Lottery Scheme’ is being introduced to encourage the habit of obtaining bills for shopping.

Consumers, whenever they buy various items from different shops, pay GST (Goods and Services Tax) at the rate of 5, 12, 18, and 28% for the items bought.

The receipt-holder needs to register this by registering the details in the website proposed to be set up by the Central Government. Based on the ‘lucky draw’ conducted on this data, winners will be announced.

They will be presented with cash awards from Rs. 10 Lakhs to Rs, 1 Crore!

Electronic lucky draws will be conducted at regular intervals and prizes will be announced.

The minimum value of the receipt for this lucky draw GST scheme will be decided by the GST Council presided by the Central Finance Minister Nirmala Seetharaman.
