In this month, there has been an increase in the prices of LPG or liquefied petroleum gas by Rs 7.37 per litre. This has made many auto drivers worried as they use LPG for their autos.

It is known that LPG is cheaper than petrol and due to this reason the majority of the auto drivers in Chennai opt for LPG instead of petrol.

An auto-rickshaw driver expressed his views regarding the increase in the rates of LPG. He explained about a litre of petrol costs Rs 76 and a litre of LPG costs just Rs 49.7. He later mentioned that the low cost of LPG was the main reason for many auto divers opting for LPG instead of petrol. The price of LPG increases then the charge for the same trip would be different and it would be more. The auto driver concluded that every week drivers also buy oil that costs Rs 180 per litre.

In Chennai city, one litre of auto LPG was Rs 36.23 in the month of September. In October, the cost marginally increased to Rs 36.76. The cost was Rs 40.43 in November and it rose to Rs 41.34 in December. In the month of January in 2020, the cost was Rs 42.33 per litre and in February the cost of one litre LPG was priced at Rs 39.95. Now, the cost of petrol and diesel are coming down every day and at this point in time, the cost of auto LPG has become more.
