Sri Lanka Government - Extension for touring the country without Visa until 30th April!

Various initiatives are being taken by the Ministry of Tourism of the Sri Lanka government in order to increase the number of tourists to that country.

As a part of this, an idea to allow the neighbouring country people to visit Sri Lanka without Visa. The then Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe appointed a Sri Lanka Tourism Officials Council to review this. As per this plan citizens from countries like India and other neighbouring countries have been touring Sri Lanka without Visa formalities.

In this scenario, the Sri Lanka government has announced that this facility will be extended until 30th April.

The Press Relationship Official Ramesh Padhirana of Sri Lanka explained regarding this:

‘After the Easter bomb attack. With the scheme of touring the country without a visa being implemented, the number of tourists has gone up by 10% to 12%.

At present, with the lurking risk of Coronavirus, the number of tourists has gone down. Subsequently, the government of Sri Lanka has granted approval for the tour without Visa facility by another 3 months.’
