The government has launched the ‘Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for LPG’ through which it plans to provide a subsidy of Rs. 14 crores to LPG subscribers, directly to their bank accounts. The scheme will use the details of the Aadhar card for the purpose. Finance Minister P. An official said, ‘This (transfer of LPG subsidy) would require a much larger number of beneficiaries to be covered for opening of bank accounts and linked to Aadhaar and banks have been asked to get ready for the launch.’
