Coronavirus testing lab facility at Chennai domestic airport as well!

The thermal screening test facility to detect the coronavirus affection has been set up in the Chennai Metro City Domestic Airport as well from yesterday (Thursday, 19th March)!

As soon as the coronavirus started spreading to other countries starting from China, the 1st thermal scanning facility for detecting coronavirus was set up in the Chennai Metro City International Airport on 20th January and has been in operation.

Initially, this testing was done for the passengers arriving from 12 countries, including Hong Kong, China, Italy, and Malaysia. Subsequently, it has been extended to testing all passengers arriving from abroad! This thermal scan test functions throughout the 24 hours.

However, until now, this facility was not carried out in the Chennai Metro City Domestic Airport. The public and the passengers put up appeals that this testing facility must be set up in the domestic airport as well.

In this status, the thermal scanning facility to test on coronavirus commenced at the domestic airport from yesterday (Thursday, 19th March).

3 special counters have been set up for this purpose at the domestic airport where the passengers arrive from their aircrafts.

Thermal screening devices have been set up and each counter has a doctor, an assistant, and 2 nurses, for a medical squad of 4 persons. Thus, there are 12 persons of 3 squads in the 3 counters led by a Head Medical Officer.

As such, with the thermal scanning facility set up in both the domestic and international airports in Chennai Metro city, the passengers who arrive with symptoms of coronavirus cannot come out of the airport.

Meanwhile, private flight services and planes carrying freight operate at he Chennai old airport. The passengers come out the 5th & 6th Gates. So, there is a public opinion that thermal screening facility must be set up here as well!
