The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, E. Palaniswamy, announced all the cleaning staff employed in the Metro Corporations, City Corporations, Town corporations, and village administration will henceforth be called as ‘Cleaning Personne’.
Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy’s announcement as per Act 110 read in the Legislative Assembly:
All roads in places including Chennai Metro City and the damaged roads under the city corporations, town administrations, and Panchayat administration will be repaired at a cost of Rs. 1000 Cores under the Road Infrastructure Plan.
A ‘new Observation Centre’ will be set up to explain/introduce the innovations of the small-scale entrepreneurs and students to society.
In an endeavour to increase the ‘greenery’ of the localities in corporations and town administration areas, more number of saplings for trees will be planted in less space under the ‘Miyawaki’ method especially, in the open spaces on the unused lands.
In the various parks located under the corporations or city administrations where sufficient space is available, open gymnasium centres and Yoga Centres will be set up.
There is totally 64,583 cleaning worker employed in the various 15 corporations, 121 city administrations, 528 town administrations, and 12,525 Village Administrations. Apart from this, cleaning workers are employed in various other departments as well. In order to honour their important contribution and also answering their long-time appeal, all cleaning workers will be ‘Cleaning Personne’.
