Camps that were held as part of the Amma Thittam (Amma Scheme) were big hits. One of the camps, which was held at the Corporation Middle School on Pantheon Road in Egmore, was organized by the Egmore – Nungambakkam Taluk. The camp saw over 600 people attend.
Officer from the Chennai Corporation, civil supplies and the taluk office were present to grant certificates that the people applied for. These included community certificates, residential certificates, legal heir certificates, migration certificates, income certificates, pension, change of patta and inclusion or exclusion of name/s from ration cards.
‘We had been trying for a long time. Now, they have asked for my husband’s certificate. I am just waiting for him to come back. This camp is really helpful’, said a Pudupet resident.
