After the debate on the subsidiaries requested by the state government department of police, fire-fighting and rescue in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, the Chief Minister E. Palaniswamy made some announcements:
- The overtime wages for the Police Custodians will be increased from Rs. 2000 to Rs. 5000.
- A new Police District will be set up in Poonamallee.
- 10 new police stations, 7 new traffic police stations, and 10 external Police stations will be set up.
- 12 Outpost Police Stations will be upgraded to full-fledged police stations.
- A new wing will be formed for the armed forces.
- New vehicles will be procured for the Police Department for improvement of vehicle facility in the Police Department at a cost of Rs. 70.11 Crores.
- Surveillance camera system will be set up at the cities of Coimbatore at Rs. 17 Crores and at Tirupur at Rs. 12 Crores.
- Promotions will be given at the 15 years and 25 years of service for the fire-fighting department personnel.
- Grade-1 Officers’ posts will be created at the level of Assistant District Officer for the 39 district headquarters stations of fire-fighting and rescue.
- 11 new fire-fighting and rescue stations will be set up. The quality/standard of the fire-fighting stations will be upgraded.
