Chengalpattu District John Lewis ordered that the vegetable market located in the old bus terminus complex and constrained for space to be shifted to a private school playground in the same area!
The state government of Tamil Nadu has insisted on shifting the present vegetable markets to more spacious locations mainly in order as a preventive action against the spreading of the raging coronavirus.
Subsequently, the Chengalpattu District Collector John Lewis inspected the relevant areas vegetable market in the old bus terminus, the pavement shops in Gandhi Saalai, and other shops and ordered that the vegetable market be shifted to the private higher secondary school playground in the same area. Accordingly, it was shifted yesterday evening (Friday, 27th March).
The collector advised the shopkeepers to ensure social distance kept among the buyers and to avoid crowding. In case this is not followed, he instructed the Police to remove the shops.
