A total of 457 persons have applied for the passes to allow them to go out of Chennai city for attending weddings, funerals and other important medical purposes. Now, Chennai Corporation has issued passes to just 92 persons. This was as per the statement from an official.
On Tuesday, there were many who applied for the passes at Ripon buildings. It must be noted that most of the applications were rejected as the officials were asked to prevent crowding n the highways.
It was brought out by an official belonging to the corporation that a total of 457 persons from Chennai had applied for the passes and 92 persons were given passes to go out of Chennai.
Information collected is Chennai Corporation commissioner, Mr. G. Prakash had delegated powers to zonal officials to avoid crowding in the Ripon buildings. He explained about how all the requests for passes within Chennai city for vehicles and persons for already fixed weddings, funerals, medical needs etc would be issued by the zonal officers. Ineligible and frivolous cases would be rejected totally. He added that only genuine cases would be considered.
Point is for any movement outside Chennai and TN, Regional Deputy Commissioners are empowered. This would be allowed only after proper checking of documents. It was mentioned by Mr. Prakash that out of the TN state movement would be handled by the corporation commissioner.
