The 21 day lock down in India to prevent spreading of Covid-19 is making the lives of many difficult.
On Tuesday, TN government issued orders to cooperative banks and other local bodies not to collect crop loans, property and water taxes and EMIs in TNHB for a time of three months. This news would surely bring some happiness on the faces of many in TN now.
It was later pointed out by the chief minister of TN, Mr. E. Palaniswami that house owners should not collect rents from their tenants for 2 months. He wanted the people to give their support to the government.
According to the order issued by the chief minister, the time for the payment of crop loan obtained in cooperative organisations has been extended by 3 months. It was also mentioned in the order that EMIs for housing loans obtained in the housing cooperatives would also be exempted for 3 months.
There were some talks held with as many as 11 teams headed by senior IAS officers and the chief minister then took decisions related to exemption of tax payments by the people. It is worthy to note that the EMI for TNHB, loans obtained in fishing and hand looms cooperative societies, loans obtained from micro, small and medium scale enterprises MSME`s from TIIC.
The companies that have obtained soft loans from SIPCOT and maintenance amount to be paid for SIPCOT by companies functioning inside SIPCOT campus would also be exempted from paying the loan amount for a time of 3 months.
