Migrants in TN getting good care at this time of Corona virus issue

As a leading state in social welfare index, Tamil Nadu has now set an example for the other states in India in taking care of people from other states.

It is known that there many workers from other states in Chennai. Information is Amma canteens, government run community centres and homes are housing more the n 4500 migrant workers.

A senior official belonging to the government revealed that TN has got more than 10,000 migrant workers and these workers are handled with great care at various levels. Point is the district collectors have already been sensitized on the issue. This was much before the Union Home Ministry advice on the migrant workers came in.

In the northern states of India, the migrant workers are now transported to their native places. In TN, the situation is well under control and there is no such exodus.  The migrant workers in TN are mostly from the states like Bihar, West Bengal, AP, Jharkhand, Odisha and Nepal etc. It is now said that these migrant workers would complete their 14 day observation protocol without any issue.

It was revealed by the corporation commissioner of Chennai, Mr. G. Prakash that a total of 4240 migrant labourers were housed by the Chennai Corporation at its community centres and homes. Information collected is there are as many as 691 workers from West Bengal and is followed by Bihar and Odisha with 186 and 175 workers respectively.

Another official explained about how TN has now overtaken other states like Gujarat, MP, AP, West Bengal etc in having more number of Corona virus affected persons and how the curve would slow down by next week. He hinted that the migrant population in TN were intact. The chief minister of TN had also reached out to the chief minister of other states that have many people from TN.
