Chennai residents would be very familiar with the vegetable market at Kothwal Chavadi.
This vegetable market located at Kothwal Chavadi has been shifted to Broadway bus stand now by the Chennai Corporation on Wednesday.
It must be noted that all the retail shops at Kothwal Chavadi has been shifted but the wholesale outlets were not disturbed. This was according to the officials of the Chennai Corporation.
On Wednesday, just 20 wholesale shops were opened and due to the restriction in the movement of the vehicles, many wholesale traders were not able to open their shops.
It must not be forgotten that just few days back Chennai Corporation commissioner, Mr. G. Prakash made his presence felt at this Kothwal Chavad market. He inspected it and ordered shifting because of gathering of huge crowds. On Tuesday night, atleast 200 retail shops at Anna Pillai Street and at Malaya Perumal Street were shifted to Broadway bus stand. As per a civic body official, over 4000 people could visit the market without violating the norms of social distancing.
Those who want to buy vegetables at affordable prices would be visiting this highly popular Broadway bus stand. This was according to officials belonging to Chennai Corporation.
