As per the house-to-house survey conducted by the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC), it has been decided to keep closely monitor 661 persons, as informed by the Health Department Officials.
The Chennai Metro City is on top of the list of the places with the most corona-affected areas. As on day-before-yesterday (9th April), there are 172 patients being treated in the hospitals for coronavirus. Out of this, the maximum number of persons at 45 are confirmed with coronavirus are from the Royapuram zone.
Next in the list is the Thiru. Vi. Ka. Nagar zone with 24, followed by Kodambakkam - 19, Anna Nagar - 17, Tondiarpet -14, Teynampet -12, Perungudi - 6, Thoruvotriyur, Valasaravakkam, and Adyar - 4 each, Madhavaram - 3, Alandur and Sholinganallur - 2 each and 6 more persons from other districts have been conformed with coronavirus.
The Greater Chennai Corporation staff is presently engaged in checking the residents within 5 km areas of the above-mentioned residents. As per this, in the 15 zones, 12,203 sections have been created consisting of 100 houses each.
GCC has deployed 10,566 persons for this activity. These persons surveyed the 37,11,531 public citizens residing in 24,87,852 houses until 8th April. Out of this, 695 persons having fever/cough/cold are being monitored. Out of these, 291 persons have recovered. The balance of 404 persons is being monitored.
Following this, a house-to-house survey was conducted on behalf of the Greater Chennai Corporation. This was conducted with 67,56,687 residents in 42,03,287 houses. As per this, 1,973 persons had a normal cold/fever. Out of these, 1,312 persons have recovered. The balance of 661 persons is being monitored.
The GCC officials further informed that 1,312 persons who were confirmed NOT affected with coronavirus will be under monitoring for the next few weeks.
