The Central Government has decided to set up 20 Lakhs retail shops selling essential items throughout the country.
The central government has taken this decision in the present situation, with expectations that lockdown may be continued. Named ‘Suraksha stores’, these shops will strictly adhere to all the safety procedures preventing the spreading of the raging coronavirus pandemic.
The central government is all set to open these retail shops in a joint arrangement with the popular private sector companies and the largest consumer-goods producers.
In this regard, the Secretary of the Central Department of Consumer Affairs, Pavankumar Agarwal, observed with the press:
“The central government has decided to set up 20 Lakhs retail shops throughout the country in the next 45 days. These shops will function with the help of both the public and private sectors. The central government has already discussed regarding this with the leading consumer-goods manufacturers in the country.
The main objective of this plan is to ensure all essential items are within the reach of the common citizens in these critical times of the raging coronavirus pandemic.
Further, the retail shops which are opened under the central government will strictly follow the specific precautionary instructions such as keeping social distancing!”
