Earlier, the lock down in India was announced from 25th March 2020 till 14th April only. Prime minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi announced on Tuesday, 14th April, that this lock down would be extended till 3rd of May 2020. This was because of the increase in the number of Corona virus cases all over India.
The important news is due to this lock down the both railway as well as airways have cancelled their services till 3rd May.
It must be taken into note that online reservation of tickets and direct reservations of tickets has been going on because the people initially hoped that after the first lock down that ended on 14th April trains would be operated and they have planned to travel between 15th April and 3rd May 2020. After it was announced that the lock down would be extended till 3rd May 2020, Indian railways has planned to cancel as many as 39 lakhs tickets that were booked between 15th April and 3rd May.
It is now mentioned that those who have booked their tickets would get back their amount for their tickets. In addition to this, those who have booked their tickets directly at the ticket counters could get their money till 31st July 2020 by cancelling their tickets.
The passengers would get full refund for the tickets reserved in the lock down time period. Information collected is during the lock down as many as 9000 passenger trains, 3000 mails and totally 15523 trains were cancelled.
