Extension of parcel train services carrying essential items to the public until 3rd May!

The services of the parcel trains carrying essential items for the common citizens affected by the present lockdown situation taken as a preventive action against the spreading of the raging coronavirus pandemic have been extended until 3rd May.
The Southern Railway Administration has informed that the reservations for the parcel trains Egmore-Nagercoil, Central-Coimbatore, and Central-Delhi have commenced.
The impact of the coronavirus has been increasing in the state of Tamil Nadu each passing day.
Presently, 1242 persons have been confirmed with coronavirus infection in the state.
In this scenario, in order to cater to the essential needs of the common citizens, goods and parcel trains are operating as usual.
Further, a review meeting was conducted regarding the operation of trains in case of a worsening situation of the coronavirus pandemic.
Accordingly, giving due considerations to the reasons, including the smooth and easy availability of the essential items for the common citizens, and others, Southern Railway has announced that the goods and parcel train services are extended until 3rd May.
