Chief Minister: Duty of the government functioning non-stop to care for affected people

The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, E. Palanisamy has informed that it is the topmost duty of the government to care for its affected people.

Following the onset and spread of the raging coronavirus pandemic, the state government of Tamil Nadu has initiated various preventive activities apart from the lockdown imposition.

In this situation, the Chief Minister left Chennai for his native district, Salem by car today (Friday, 17th April) at 8.00 AM. Reaching Salem, he had a review session regarding the status of preventive activities against the spread of coronavirus. This review meeting was conducted at the District Collector’s office. The Salem district collector Raman, District Monitoring Officers Chrylosekumar, and Manjunataha and others participated.

The following points emerged:
  • Salem District Collector has been performing well on preventive activities.
  • The review was conducted regarding the welfare of NGO employees.
  • 9 places have been identified as corona preventive zones in Salem.
  • In the corona preventive circles, 24 persons have been affected.
  • Out of the 24 affected persons, 7 have recovered and returned home.
  • The government has been taking all possible efforts to bring the coronavirus spread situation under control.
  • In order to prevent coronavirus spread, it is MANDATORY FOR ALL TO WEAR FACE MASKS.
  • Essential grocery items of the Salem citizens are distributed through 78 grocery shops in Salem.
  • 98% of the ration family cardholders have been given Rs. 1000 aid.
  • There is no ban on selling agricultural products.
  • A special review committee has been formed to review regarding relaxing lockdown condition.
  • Tamil Nadu Government had ordered 1 lakh Rapid test Kits even earlier to the Central government!
  • In the 1st Phase, Tamil Nadu has received 24000 Rapid Test Kits.
  • A larger section of the affected people has been recovering in Tamil Nadu.
  • It is the duty of the government to care for the affected people!
  • The entire government machinery has been at work day and night!
  • The central government has been requested to supply more est kits to Tamil Nadu.
  • The state government of Tamil Nadu has been acting as per the recommendations of the medical experts.
  • The Central Government has announced that there is no ban on the rural industries functioning.
  • Ration items are being distributed to the common public without issues.
  • If symptoms of coronavirus are detected, one must immediately visit the government hospital.
  • It has been advised to the collectors to take necessary action for the public to keep social distancing!
