150 shops and supermarkets in Chennai city sealed now for violating social distancing

Social distancing has become very important in this Corona virus situation. It is known that only by maintaining some distance between persons it is possible to prevent the spread of this infection.

There are many people who are taking it lightly inspite of knowing that Covid-19 is spreading at rapid pace and more deaths taking place.

For failing to follow social distancing norms, as many as 150 shops and supermarkets in Chennai were sealed by the corporation officials. The officials have pointed out that some shops functioned even after the permitted hours. The shop owners were already asked by the corporation officials to close down the shutters at 1 pm.

For violating social distancing norms on Sundays, nearly 60 meat shops have been sealed by the corporation. Information is the zonal level flying squads formed by the civic body check the violations in Chennai.

An official belonging to Chennai Corporation explained about how the sealed shops and supermarkets could be opened after 3 months of time after getting permission from the corporation. 

For the sake of avoiding crowds at the shops and supermarkets, Chennai Corporation had given permission to select grocery shops and supermarkets to deliver food items at the homes are known. On its website, Chennai Corporation had listed the shops that were granted permission for home delivering essentials and groceries etc. 

More than 4000 persons have been issued emergency travel passes, essential services and commodity providers have been given 457 passes by the corporation of Chennai now.
