The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has released the guidelines to be followed by self-volunteers while offering help to the public.
The notification from GCC mentions:
- For distribution of food items and relief kits - the concerned zonal GCC officers must be informed 2 days in advance.
- The GCC Zonal Officer must be furnished with details of the place of food distribution item and related details.
- Regional Officer must inspect the place of Food items Distribution check and confirm whether the place is ok for food items distribution and then only permit for the distribution of food items.
- The food must be prepared in the same zone where they are to be distributed free.
- Distribution of food items will not be allowed in the containment zones as announced by the state government.
- The distribution of the prepared food items must be completed within the specified time.
- In the place of food distribution, only 3 persons apart from the driver will be allowed to participate as representatives from the self-voluntary group or Non-Governmental organizations
- Not more than 3 persons should travel in the vehicle carrying the food items.
- While food items are being distributed it is MANDATORY to keep the SOCIAL DISTABCING.
- Apart from the conditions as above, other conditions as under Act 144 must also be followed.
- Apart from above, the various rules and regulations released by the Greater Chennai Corporation regarding food distribution must also be followed strictly by the volunteers.
- Full cooperation must be extended to the activities initiated by the Greater Chennai Corporation as per the guidelines given by the Madras High Court considering the welfare of the self-volunteers as well as the public as a measure towards prevention of the raging coronavirus pandemic!
