The state government of TN has announced that it would freeze surrender and encashment of earned leave or EL for a year.
By this decision of TN government, 18 lakh government employees as well as teachers would get affected. A huge amount of Rs 2000 crores would be saved by this move.
On Monday, chief secretary, Mr. Shanmugam mentioned that in the view of fiscal stress due to Corona virus pandemic, periodical surrender of earned leave for encashment of 15 days every year or 30 days every two years as provided under Rule 7A of TN Leave Rules, 1933 is suspended initially for a period of one year for all the government employees, teachers from the date of issue of this order.
Mr. Shanmugam mentioned about how all surrender requests and bills pending as on date irrespective of their stage of sanction and disbursement shall not be processed. It must be noted that in the cases where sanction orders were issued the orders would be cancelled and earned leave would be credited to the leave account of the respective employees.
Important information is the order shall also be applicable to all constitutional, statutory bodies, including state corporations, local bodies, boards, universities, commissions, companies, institutions etc.
