Anna University or AU has got plans to leave out the portions that were not taught before the colleges were shut in TN due to Corona virus threat. Information is the final year students of BE and B. Tech courses would be studying one unit less for their semester examinations. It is known that in the engineering course every subject has got 5 units.

On 17th March 2020, all the engineering colleges in TN were shut and at that time just 80 % of the syllabus was covered by the colleges and by the university departments. It must be taken into account that from 25th March there was complete lock down and in the final semester the engineering colleges lost 13 working days.

On Monday, the officials took part in a meeting to plan the semester exams after the lock down.

At the meeting was discussed issues such as evaluating thesis of final year students, conducting exams and loss of working days etc. Vice-chancellor of AU, Mr. M.K. Surappa, pointed out that questions would be asked from the four units and the fifth unit would be left out for the present eighth semester students.

Completing the remaining portions through online classes has been carried out by some engineering colleges. Important information is most of the students were from rural areas in TN and AU was not sure about how many of them had access to internet and attended online classes.

Conducting the semester examinations in a phased manner was brought out. At any given time, the students belonging to one semester would be present at the college campus.

Officials spoke about how the examinations would begin with eighth and final semester and how then the seventh semester and arrears exam for the final semester students would take place. Social distancing would be maintained at the examination halls.
