The State Government of Tamil Nadu has announced that it has increased the prices of alcoholic beverages by Rs. 20.
The impact/intensity of the coronavirus pandemic has been increasing the state of Tamil Nadu each passing day over the last week! With this, 12 districts in the state are under Red zone!
With the lockdown imposition continuing, certain relaxations have been announced in different places, subsequently, an announcement was released that the state government TASMAC shops will be open from 7th May.
With the higher impact/intensity of the coronavirus pandemic in Tamil Nadu, the Tamil Nadu State Government revised its decision and has announced that the government TASMAC shops in the areas under the jurisdiction of the Chennai Metro Police Department, including Chennai, Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur, and Chingleput will not be open.
The revised dates for opening TASMAC shops will be announced later! The state government has also announced that there will not be any sales in TASMAC shops located in the blocked/marked zone!
With the TASMAC shops set to reopen tomorrow (Thursday, 7th May), the state government of Tamil Nadu has increased the prices of the alcoholic beverages. The state government of Tamil Nadu has increased the Coordinated Tax by 15%. This increased price will be effective from tomorrow when the TASMAC shops are set to open!
This price increase is applicable for both domestic and international alcoholic beverages. As such, the normal 180 ml bottle will have a retail price increase of minimum Rs. 10. It is announced that the prices of the medium and premier category drinks will be up by Rs. 20.
The State Government of Tamil Nadu earned Rs. 31157 Crores through TASMAC shops. The price increase of alcoholic beverages in Tamil Nadu follows after the price increase in Delhi and Karnataka!
