Covering the face with face masks while going out of the homes have become compulsory now. This would avoid the persons from getting infected with Corona virus is known.
To the residents belonging to the containment zones and to those in the thickly populated places in Chennai, GCC would be distributing re-usable face masks from Tuesday.
Yesterday, a meeting took place between Chennai Corporation Commissioner Mr. G. Prakash, Health secretary Mrs .Beela Rajesh and special officer for Covid-19 control Mr. J. Radhakrishnan. They gave instructions to the civic body to distribute cloth based face masks with essential items and kabasura kudineer.
Rather than sealing the entire street in the containment zones, a decision was taken to quarantine the houses and buildings of the Covid-19 persons.
It was brought out by a release from the Chennai Corporation that one or two houses near the affected person’s houses would be announced as containment zones. Identifying aged persons and those with comorbid conditions like BP, diabetes, heart diseases etc would be important and field officials along with NGO members would do this work. Persons having issues like cold cough and fever must be identified and then moved to hospitals or Covid-19 care centres.
As many as 1064 persons have been shifted to care centres and as many as 115 have been sent to home isolation. The release also mentioned about the inspections that would be carried out at Covid-19 care centres by the officials every day and shift patients to the hospitals if they need medical care.
