Wearing face masks compulsory in Chennai, but who cares

For more than 2 months of time, Chennai residents have been repeatedly requested and warned by the police department and by other authorities to wear face masks while venturing out of their homes.

It is now said that until 1st of June in just 12 days the Chennai police personnel had booked 34000 people in Chennai for not wearing face masks when they came out of their homes.  An amount of Rs 1.69 crores has been collected as fines from the violators by the police personnel in Chennai.

According to the sources, as many as 33986 persons have been booked by the police in just 12 days. This comes to an average of 2840 persons booked per day. Each one of these violators has been slapped with a fine amount of Rs 500.

Information is the police personnel have been checking atleast 120 points everyday ever since the wearing of face masks has been made compulsory in Chennai city. Those driving their vehicles without face masks have been the target for the police personnel now. 

The vehicle owners without masks were asked to leave their vehicles at the police stations and they were asked to buy masks to get back their vehicles. In addition, penalty amount of Rs 500 is being collected from the violators.
