In Chennai city, 12 out of 100 samples tests Corona virus positive

Who would have thought that one day Chennai would have so many Corona virus positive cases?
It has happened now. For the last 3 days, Corona virus positive cases are witnessing steep rise in Chennai. In this scenario it has been revealed that in Chennai 12 out of 100 samples tests positive for Corona virus infection.
The samples are collected from 6000 to 7000 persons in Chennai everyday and sent for testing for the Corona virus at various labs in Chennai. This was according to some sources belonging to Chennai Corporation and from DPH. The testing policy and the number of samples collected keeps changing by the authorities. This has resulted in more number of testing now.
It is worthy to note that as many as 967 positive cases and 806 positive cases have been reported on Monday, 1st June 2020 and Tuesday, 2nd June 2020 respectively. This is now the highest ever one day rise since the outbreak.
For every 100 samples tested in the various labs across the Chennai city, 12 persons tests Corona virus positive now.
Around 10,000 samples get tested every day by the state government and it is now said that on Tuesday, 2nd June, as many as 11,097 samples were tested in all the districts of TN including Chennai.
It must be remembered that while releasing the daily report on the Corona cases the state government does not make public regarding the number of samples tested district wise.
It was later explained by a zonal health officer belonging to the Chennai Corporation how few weeks back the department were asked to send the family members of the positive persons for testing only if they showed any symptom. He added that at present all the close contacts of the Corona positive person have been asked to send for testing.
