In many slums belonging to Royapuram, NO new Coronavirus cases in the last one week

Royapuram zone in Chennai has been making many heads turn with a  large number of Coronavirus positive cases. The latest news is NO new cases have been reported from this zone in the last one week of time.

It is now revealed that this would be a huge morale booster for the officials belonging to Chennai Corporation working in the Royapuram zone from containing Coronavirus infection. The presence of narrow streets and denser population in this zone has contributed to most of the cases in this important zone in north Chennai.

Information is there are as many as 175 slums in the Royapuram zone of which 52 are notified slum areas. In these notified slums in the Royapuram zone, there have been no new Coronavirus positive cases for a week of time. This was mentioned by a Corporation official. Other slum areas of this zone also did not have new cases for the last 2 or three days.

It must be remembered that the PRN garden belonging to this zone had as many as53 Coronavirus cases in the past. For the last 1 week, there have been no new cases here. Point is Anna Sathyavani  Muthu Nagar that had 11 cases once is free from any cases now for the last 20 days. Many steps such as distributing kabasura kudineer plus disinfection drive and supplying facemasks have resulted in control of the spread of Coronavirus infection in the Royapuram slums now.

It was pointed out that conducting fever camps and clinics have played a huge role in controlling the spread of infection here. The doctors would visit the slums here and would identify those with influenza-like illness. Vulnerable people have been shifted to nearby schools and to community centers and by this de-congestion of slums was possible. There are 7.5 lakhs persons in the Royapuram zone and 2lkhs people live in 175 sums here.

As on Sunday morning, 7th June 2020, this Royapuram zone has remained the worst affected in Chennai with as many as 3717 cases. Presently, there are 1663 active cases here and as many as 2014 Corona patients have recovered.
