The number of fever camps in the Chennai city has been increased from 140 to 300 now by the GCC. This has been done to contain the spread of the Coronavirus issue.

As per an official belonging to GCC, the number of residents tested for Covid-19 has also increased from 3500 to 5000. This has been from Tuesday. To facilitate the testing of residents in different places belonging to the Chennai city, Chennai Corporation has asked for more lab technicians. This was mainly due to the act that there has been a delay in the testing of the residents with Coronavirus symptoms.

From districts like Vellore, Krishnagiri, and Villupuram, etc, more than 140 lab technicians have reached Chennai city. There are already 100 lab technicians belonging to GCC. Lack of proper testing facilities is an issue now and there are many complaints regarding this from the Chennai residents.

It is worth mentioning that those people who were unable to pay for testing at private hospitals have requested the Chennai Corporation for free testing in all the zones. The lack of manpower has been a problem with GCC and due to this issue, GCC could not increase the testing.

It must be taken into account that at its 40 centers Chennai Corporation had stopped testing the residents at 3 pm in the evening itself. Many private labs offered testing services being 3 pm and hence many residents visited these private labs for their testing.

Now, with the arrival of additional lab technicians sent by the government from other districts of TN, the testing services at the Corporation centers in Chennai would improve.

Information is on Tuesday, the Chennai Corporation in a tweet had asked the residents to tag the picture of civic workers in PPE with the hashtag #GuardiansOfChennai. This was asked to be done for the purpose of appreciating the civic workers who have been working tirelessly to contain Coronavirus from spreading.

It was later revealed by the Corporation of Chennai that 49.1% of those who had contracted Coronavirus infection have recovered. Information is the percentage of those who have died was 0.9%
