The first day of the six-day counseling session for engineering courses saw many students opting for VIT (Vellore Institute of Technology) as their first choice. The sessions began at the VIT campus and Chennai on Monday.
193 students were enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering course and 167 in the ECE course. Entrance exams for the University were held between April 15th and 24th. A total of 167008 students appeared for the exams, for 4000 seats, 800 of which are at the Chennai campus.
‘This year the university has introduced production & industrial engineering with 70 seats. We have received overwhelming response from the student community for this programme… Of the 730 seats available in CSE, a total of 50 seats got filled in the first one-hour, while for the Mechanical Engineering 640 seats in the Vellore campus and 240 seats at the Chennai campus nearly 45 seats were allotted to candidates’, said Chancellor G. Viswanathan.
