The IEEE – USA, a body of engineers, has asked the US Senate to reject the proposal to increase the number of H1B visas given to Indian IT professionals to work in the country. They said that the move would be damaging to the American economy. They urged the Senate to give the jobs to Americans to increase employment opportunities.
A statement issued by IEEE – USA said, ‘Outsourcing is damaging to US workers and the American economy. We need laws that promote US job growth, not encourage it to leave our shores… We encourage the Senate to maintain the high-tech provisions as written… Efforts to destroy the balanced compromise that went into crafting the legislation will make it more difficult to enact into law.’
